FAQ

What is the Skill Tree in Command An Army?
A per-unit upgrade system added by Update 3, the Mongol update (October 3, 2026). Skill Crystals feed it, and it sits alongside the game's other progression systems — evolution and ascension — as the third way to make units stronger.
How do you get Skill Crystals in Command An Army?
Quests, daily rewards and ranked wins pay them, per All Things How's Update 3 coverage, and several October codes pay Skill Crystals alongside Gems — see the current code list for the active ones.
Is the Skill Tree the same as evolving a unit?
No. Evolution changes what the unit is (a Scout Rider becomes a Lancer at an evolve station); the Skill Tree upgrades the unit you already have, node by node. Ascension is the third lane — permanent stat strength for a specific copy.
Which unit should I skill-tree first?
Your most-committed carry — the unit you evolve and ascend anyway, so all three progression lanes stack on the same roster slot. Spreading Skill Crystals across unused units wastes the per-unit design.

What Update 3 Added

Update 3 — the Mongol update — shipped three systems at once: a per-unit Skill Tree, Auto Delete, and an AFK Server. The Skill Tree is the one that changes daily play, because it gives every unit its own upgrade path and a dedicated currency to fund it.

The Currency: Skill Crystals

Skill Crystals feed the Skill Tree, and the farming loop is the same one that funds everything else in Update 3:

Source Notes
Quests Standard quest payouts
Daily rewards The login loop — the same one that funds Gems
Ranked wins Competitive play pays progression currency
Codes Several October codes pay Skill Crystals alongside Gems — check the active code list before spending Robux on anything

The practical read: the daily loop is the Skill Tree budget. Update 3’s economy ties its new currency to the lanes you should already be running, so a missed day costs progression twice.

How It Fits the Three Progression Lanes

Command An Army now has three ways to make a unit stronger, and they answer different questions:

System What it changes Currency / Requirement
Skill Tree (Update 3) Upgrades the unit you already have, node by node Skill Crystals
Evolution Changes what the unit is (Scout Rider → Lancer) Level 20 + evolve station
Ascension Permanently strengthens the copy you own Duplicates / ascension materials

The lanes stack: an evolved, ascended carry with a filled Skill Tree is the strongest single roster slot the game allows. The reverse is also true — Skill Crystals spread across unused units build nothing. Pick one carry (the how to get best units framework), and route your first Skill Crystals there.

The Sibling Systems Worth Knowing

Update 3’s other two systems share the same update notes:

  • Auto Delete — quality-of-life for roster management, relevant once Update 3’s new units start multiplying your dupes.
  • AFK Server — idle progression lane; pair it with the daily quest loop so offline time still funds the crystals above.

A traits pass shipped in the same update, with every new trait carrying both a buff and a nerf — the community split on the result, so re-check your tier list assumptions before committing Skill Crystals to a unit whose trait was touched.
