FAQ

What are the Ranked ranks in Command An Army?
Nine tiers in ascending order: Warrior, Knight, Noble, Commander, General, Warlord, Conqueror, Overlord and Emperor. Emperor is the highest rank currently in the game.
When did Ranked come out in Command An Army?
Update 2, live since September 19, 2026, added Ranked alongside Guilds, the Rapier units and the Parry trait. It is playable now — there is nothing to wait for.
Does Ranked matchmaking use rank?
Yes — matchmaking pairs you against opponents at a similar rank, per the Update 2 record. No MMR details, point values or promotion rules have been published beyond the ladder itself.
Does climbing Ranked raise my Star Limit?
No. Ranked sits alongside the existing progression systems rather than replacing them: your Star Limit still caps what you can field, so the tier list still decides your loadout regardless of rank.
Why play Ranked at all?
The Update 3 report says ranked wins pay Skill Crystals — the currency behind the Skill Tree — which makes ranked wins part of the daily progression loop, not just competition.

What Ranked Is

Ranked is the competitive ladder Update 2 shipped on September 19, 2026, alongside Guilds and the Rapier units. It is a nine-tier ladder, and matchmaking pairs you against opponents at a similar rank.

The full ladder: all nine ranks

# Rank
1 Warrior
2 Knight
3 Noble
4 Commander
5 General
6 Warlord
7 Conqueror
8 Overlord
9 Emperor

Emperor is the highest rank currently in the game. What the published record does not document: MMR values, promotion or demotion thresholds, point per win, season resets, or rank-based rewards. The ladder and the matchmaking principle are what shipped on the record — the Update 2 overview preserves that boundary.

How Ranked interacts with everything else

Ranked sits alongside the existing progression systems rather than replacing them, and the interactions cut both ways:

System Interaction with Ranked
Star Limit Unchanged by rank. Climbing does not raise it — the tier list still decides what you can field at any rank
Mastery and evolution Still gate evolution independently — a Warrior with a level 20 Scout Rider can run the Lancer chain
Ascension Duplicate-fed growth applies to ranked loadouts the same as any other
Skill Tree Ranked wins pay Skill Crystals per the Update 3 report — ranked play is part of the crystal economy
Formations Anti-charge picks matter more here: Update 2’s squad size bump mattered “most in Ranked” per its own patch record

That last row is the practical one: Spearman and Pikeman squads grew from 24 to 28 troops in Update 2 specifically because anti-cavalry picks matter in competitive play. The spear line now extends to the Phalangite endpoint, and cavalry-heavy opponents meet a wall of it.

What to field in Ranked

No rank-specific meta is published, so the fielding advice is the same evidence the rest of the site runs on:

  • One S or A tier anchor. Samurai is the most consistent documented pick; Immortal flanks better but needs coordination that solo queue does not guarantee.
  • An anti-cavalry body. The spear line — cheap, 28 troops strong since Update 2, and ranked is where charges actually get run at you.
  • Backline damage within budget. Flame Archer delivers S-tier ranged output at 3 stars, leaving Star Limit room for the supports above.

The formation planning guide remains the template for testing any of it — record version, objective, squad and repeated outcomes before believing a result.
