The Short Answer: Evolve an Archer
Flame Archer is not a banner pull. It is the endpoint of the Archer evolution chain — the best-value route to S tier in the game:
| Step | Unit | Stars | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | Archer | 1★ | C |
| Evolution 1 | Longbowman | 2★ | B |
| Evolution 2 | Flame Archer | 3★ | S |
Two station visits and two level-20 thresholds turn the cheapest ranged starter into the strongest ranged unit in the roster. The evolution guide ranks it second only to the Scout Rider chain that ends at Lancer.
The Chain, Step by Step
- Hold an Archer (1★). It is C-tier filler in base form and exists to start this chain.
- Level it to 20 (the evolve threshold per player reports) and evolve at an evolve station → Longbowman (2★). Longbowman already out-ranges and out-damages the base Archer; its weakness is fragility in melee, so keep a frontline in front of it.
- Level Longbowman to 20 and evolve again → Flame Archer (3★, S tier).
- Ascend in parallel. Duplicates feed ascension — two copies per level up to Ascension 3 — and permanently strengthen the copy you keep while the evolutions run.
The beginner guide covers the leveling loop behind step 2, and the formation planning guide is where you test the finished unit inside a squad.
Why This Is the Best Value Path in the Game
Two reasons stack on the same endpoint:
- S tier at 3 stars. Flame Archer reaches the top tier a full star cheaper than Samurai, Lancer, Spartan, Immortal and Berserker. When your Star Limit is tight, a 3-star S-tier unit plus two useful starters outperforms one 4-star unit stranded in a loadout it cannot support — the tier list runs that math in full.
- Ranged utility no other unit has. The arced shot trajectory opens positioning options behind walls and over frontlines, and the damage-over-time effect keeps working after every landed shot. It is the most flexible ranged unit in the roster, not just the strongest.
What Flame Archer Is Worth at the End
Flame Archer is one of only four S-tier units in the documented roster, alongside Samurai, Lancer and Mace, and it is the only one of the four reachable through evolution. Two of the three dated guides checked put it in S; none places it below the top of A. Its counters are the usual ranged weaknesses — a fast flanker such as a Scout Rider reaching the backline — so pair it with a defensive body like the Imperial Wall chain and let the arc do the work.
