FAQ

How does Ascension work in Command An Army?
Ascension permanently strengthens the copy of a unit you already own by combining duplicate copies of that same troop - two copies per level. The rule comes from a September 10, 2026 UI report and is corroborated by independent guides published since; no official source documents the system.
What is the max Ascension in Command An Army?
Ascension 3, per multiple independent guides - reaching it takes eight base copies, because every level doubles the copies behind it. Per-level stat gains are reported by one guide's creator testing (HP, damage and rush damage up; speed and range unchanged) and have no official stat card behind them.
How do you ascend a unit in Command An Army?
One dedicated guide describes the flow: open the upgrade area in the lobby, where Ascension sits next to Evolve, pick a unit you own two same-level copies of, and confirm the merge. That is a single source's account - confirm the current UI in the live client before planning around it.
Should I evolve or ascend first in Command An Army?
Run both in parallel. Evolve starter units up their documented lines while ascending the banner units you have committed to - evolution changes what a unit is, ascension strengthens the copy you own, and focusing on one leaves the other half of your roster behind.
What do I do with duplicate units in Command An Army?
Duplicates feed Ascension when combined two at a time - merging is free, per the dedicated guide. Deleting spares pays only a small Gem refund, so hold duplicates until the unit reaches Ascension 3; both ProGameGuides' beginner guide and the dedicated ascension guide give that same advice.

What is Ascension in Command An Army?

Ascension is the system that permanently strengthens the specific copy of a unit you already own. It is not the same as evolution, which moves a unit up a fixed line into a different form — ascension keeps the unit as it is and makes your copy stronger, using duplicate copies of the same troop as the material. The evolution guide records the two systems as running in parallel, and that distinction is the whole planning problem: one lane changes what a unit is, the other changes how strong the one you own gets.

How a merge runs

The one dedicated ascension guide walks the flow end to end: open the upgrade area in the lobby, where Ascension sits next to Evolve; select a unit you own two copies of; confirm the merge; then re-equip — the guide recommends the “Equip Best” button — so your loadout uses the stronger copy. Treat the exact screens as one source’s account until you have the client open.

Two rules frame the cost math. First, copies must sit at the same ascension level to merge — an Ascension 1 copy cannot combine with an Ascension 2 copy, per both the dedicated guide and Sportskeeda’s tier list. Second, every level doubles the base copies behind it: two copies make Ascension 1, four make Ascension 2, and eight make Ascension 3, the maximum. The same guide adds that merging costs nothing — no Gems and no separate ascension item, just the two copies — and that a paid “Ascend All Troops” shortcut only batch-performs merges you could do manually.

Ascension’s place in the three progression lanes

Since Update 3 shipped on October 3, 2026, a unit can grow through three systems, and they answer different questions — the Skill Tree guide lays the lanes out in this exact shape:

System What it changes Currency / Requirement
Skill Tree (Update 3) Upgrades the unit you already have, node by node Skill Crystals
Evolution Changes what the unit is (Scout Rider → Lancer) Level 20 + evolve station
Ascension Permanently strengthens the copy you own Duplicates — two per level

The lanes stack. An evolved, ascended carry with a filled Skill Tree is the strongest single roster slot the game allows — and the reverse is just as true: ascension levels spread across units you never field build nothing. Pick one carry using the unit tier list, then route duplicates, Skill Crystals and evolution time into the same slot.

Why duplicates got more valuable in Update 3

Update 3 added five new units — the 5-star Laestrygonian, the 4-star Myrmidon and three Mongol Battle Pass units — plus a summon banner chase that will multiply duplicate pulls for anyone chasing the first 5-star at its reported 0.01% rate. The Update 3 overview records the full unit list, and the dupes you accumulate along the way are ascension material first: combining two copies of the same troop per level is the documented use. Update 3 also shipped an Auto Delete system that clears unwanted units while farming — useful for roster hygiene, but risky to run blindly until its targeting rules are known, because a deleted dupe is a level you cannot buy back. The AFK Server and Auto Delete page tracks what is and is not documented about it.

What is not verified about Ascension

No official source documents Ascension — the Roblox experience publishes no patch notes — but the core rule is no longer single-source: the two-copies merge comes from a September 10, 2026 UI report preserved on the unit acquisition overview, and TechWiser’s beginner guide, Games.gg’s tier list and a dedicated ascension guide all corroborate two copies per level up to Ascension 3. What stays single-source is the payoff: the HP, damage and rush-damage gains come from one guide’s September creator testing, and nobody has published per-level numbers, an official stat card, or what happens to the merged pair’s Mastery. Deleting spares pays only a small Gem refund — an amount no source has pinned down — which is why both community guides that discuss deletion give the same advice: hold duplicates until a unit reaches Ascension 3. The codes page funds the Gems side while the rest of the ascension math waits for an in-client check.
